Green Bead Head Copper John Nymph – Heavy Attractor
Green Bead Head Copper John Nymph – Heavy Attractor
A green-bodied variation of the legendary Copper John — one of the most effective nymphs ever created. The Copper John's wire body and bead head sink it like a stone, getting it to the bottom fast in heavy current where trout feed. The green body adds variety to the standard copper version and is especially effective on waters where trout have seen the original a million times.
John Barr designed the Copper John to be the ultimate fast-water nymph, and this pattern lives up to that legacy. It's heavy, it's flashy, it's durable, and it catches trout everywhere from small mountain creeks to big western rivers. Having multiple Copper John colors in your box means you always have a fresh look to show the fish.
When to Fish It
Year-round, with peak effectiveness in faster water where you need weight to reach the bottom. Fish it as a point fly in a two-nymph rig, below a dry fly as a heavy dropper, or as the anchor fly in a euro nymphing setup. The green body is especially effective on waters with olive-tinted subsurface vegetation or during caddis and stonefly activity when green-bodied nymphs are common.

Why Anglers Stock This Fly
The Copper John is consistently one of the top-selling nymphs in America for a reason — it catches fish everywhere. The green variation gives you an alternative color when trout refuse the standard copper, and it matches a wider range of natural nymphs. The wire body is nearly indestructible, so this fly will survive fish after fish. Hand-tied with quality materials by tiers with over 30 years of experience.
