Corn-Fed Caddis Dry Fly – High-Floating Adult Caddis
Corn-Fed Caddis Dry Fly – High-Floating Adult Caddis
The gold standard of nymph fishing. The Bead Head Hare's Ear has been catching trout for generations because its rough, buggy profile imitates almost every aquatic insect a trout encounters — mayfly nymphs, caddis larvae, scuds, stonefly nymphs, and more. The natural hare's ear fur traps air bubbles and creates a translucent, lifelike body that no synthetic material has ever matched.
This is the nymph you fish when you don't know what else to fish. It's the fly that catches your first trout, your hundredth, and your thousandth. If the Adams is the king of dry flies, the Hare's Ear is the king of nymphs.
When to Fish It
Year-round, everywhere, in any condition. There is no wrong time or place to fish a Hare's Ear. Dead-drift it under an indicator, euro nymph it through runs and riffles, drop it below a dry fly, or swing it through soft water. Sizes 12-16 cover the widest range of situations. Start with a size 14 if you're unsure — it's the most versatile size.
