The Green Drake is the biggest mayfly event of the western season — a size 10–14 sailboat of a dun that brings the largest fish in the river to the surface in daylight.

When to Fish It

Late June through July on western freestones (earlier on some eastern water). The hatch is short and legendary; when drakes are up, cancel your plans. Dead-drift on light tippet — big fish eat this fly hard.
