Stimulator (Orange) Dry Fly
Stimulator (Orange) Dry Fly
The Stimulator is a large, buoyant dry fly that imitates stoneflies, hoppers, and other big bugs that bring aggressive trout to the surface. The orange body and palmered hackle create a high-floating, visible pattern that doubles as both an imitation and an indicator fly in a hopper-dropper setup. When big bugs are on the water — or when you just want to see some explosive surface strikes — the Stimulator delivers.
When to Fish It
Summer through early fall during stonefly and terrestrial activity. Fish it through pocket water, along banks, through riffles, and anywhere big bugs are hitting the water. It's especially effective as the top fly in a hopper-dropper rig with a small nymph trailing 18-24 inches below. The buoyancy supports heavy droppers easily. Size 8.
