Squirmy Worm
Squirmy Worm
The Squirmy Worm is a simple, wiggly worm imitation made from flexible squirmy material that moves constantly in the current — even when the fly is sitting still. The undulating action drives trout crazy and has made this one of the most polarizing yet effective patterns in modern fly fishing. It imitates aquatic worms, crane fly larvae, and other soft-bodied organisms that trout eat off the bottom.
When to Fish It
Year-round, but especially effective during high water, after rain, and in off-color conditions when real worms get washed into the drift. Fish it deep near the bottom with a dead-drift. The squirmy material moves on its own in even the slightest current, so you don't need to add any action. Pink and red are the most productive colors. Size 10-12.

Why Anglers Stock This Fly
The Squirmy Worm's constant movement is what sets it apart from every other worm pattern. The flexible material never stops wiggling, creating a lifelike action that San Juan Worms and other static worm patterns can't match. It was banned from many fly fishing competitions for being too effective — draw your own conclusions. Hand-tied with quality materials by tiers with over 30 years of experience.

Squirmy worms are a great basic pattern for any fly box. When all else fails, this pattern can be very effective. Unfortunately, these particular worms are tied in a sloppy and inconsistent manner. On several of them the thread wraps are so tight that the worm was cut nearly through and barely attached. Unlike the photos in the item description, most of them were tied with two pieces of worm, rather then a sleek, well executed single piece. I think better quality and more durable squirmy worms can be found elsewhere.
These are excellent looking fly patterns, and the quality is immediately noticeable. Every fly in the set is consistently well tied, with clean bodies and no loose material, and the (barbed) hooks feel solid and dependable. The assortment is useful, the color looks great in person, and the overall presentation feels far more premium than the price suggests. For the cost, this set is a standout value - super nice flies that should fish beautifully. Highly recommend for anyone that uses the SJ worm pattern and looking to stock up.
My husband can’t wait to try the Floating Feather Supply squirmy Wormy nymphs. They are great quality, good size, well tied with a wide variety of bright colors to attract fish. The container has a snap open lid that makes it easy to access the nymphs.
I ordered the tan color only, and honestly, that’s all I’ve needed. This fly has been excellent for trout, crappie, and even sunfish. The natural tan shade really matches what fish are used to seeing, especially in clearer water, and it produces consistent strikes. The squirmy material has great movement in the water — even on a slow drift it looks alive. The tungsten bead helps it sink quickly, which is perfect for getting down where the fish are holding. I’ve used it under an indicator and dead-drifted through deeper runs, and it’s been very productive. The hooks are sharp right out of the box and have held fish securely without bending. The fly itself is well-tied and has held up through multiple catches without falling apart. If you’re looking for a simple, natural worm pattern that works across species, the tan version is a solid choice. Great value and definitely staying in my fly box!
They look good can’t wait to try them . Didn’t have any damaged in my pack .
