A weighted stonefly nymph in golden or black. Stonefly nymphs live in the river for two to three years before hatching, which means trout eat them every day — not just during the hatch.

When to Fish It

Year-round on rocky, fast rivers; best in the weeks before the golden stone and salmonfly hatches of early summer when nymphs migrate toward the banks. Dead-drift it deep along bottom on medium tippet.
