Pine Squirrel Leech - Bead Head

My husband recently caught the fly fishing itch after years of sticking to traditional lures and live bait, and he is officially hooked. He picked up this set of hand tied streamer flies to help build out his new collection, and he has been really impressed with the results so far.He specifically mentioned that these allow him to really finesse the cast. The natural hair fibers have a lifelike swimming action that pulses and breathes in the current, which seems to trigger strikes from the fish we have been targeting. They have a nice weight to them that helps with accuracy, making it much easier to present the fly exactly where he wants it to go.The hooks are sharp and sturdy, holding up well even after a few good fights, and the overall quality is impressive for a multipack. It is a relief to have flies that do not fall apart after a single fish, and the included storage cup is a nice touch to keep everything organized in his bag. If you are looking for a reliable and effective pattern to add to your rotation, these are a solid choice that performs exactly as promised in the water.

Overall, these are nice flies. They are basic and you can see some minor variability from fly to fly. These came with 4 different colors, I have used the black and orange/brown one so far. I use a spinning rod with a bobber as my set up. These cast well with the 1/2 full bobber and float on the surface. I have yet to catch a trout but have had several hits. In terms of durability, both flies still look brand new after being in (or on the surface of) the water. Looking at these I was expecting the material to get a little water logged and sink, didn’t happen. These stayed up on the surface, didn’t really absorb the water. Next time out I plan to saturate one just to see how will it works just below the water surface.The hooks look good, hard to tell as the material covers most of the hook. They are sharp and consistent from fly to fly. It seems to me the builder of these flies chose and used great quality materials. Each fly is well made.The container for holding the flies works but is too small. These are big flies and when you put a dozen in the container, it is hard to close without catching some of the fly material in the lid.Overall, these seem well made.

These are 12 nicely tied flies, in leech-imitation pattern. Not the most complicated flies to tie, but these are done well.I know from past experience that these streamers are extremely productive, particularly with panfish. When wet they look very much like the real thing, and have similar movement in the water.I think it's a fair value for 12, and will definitely help you bring that catch home. Comes in a small, round plastic case that is likely not the best way to store these.

great flies should work well

Works great on pan fish and bass, haven't caught any trout on them yet though.Quality is what you'd expect from an online vendor (vs a fly fishing shop or old school fly angler that ties their own). They look pretty good though, the black especially but the orange works well too. I haven't had any come apart on me or bend any hooks, so I'd call them pretty well made.As I said before, they seem to work on a variety of species. I bet a walleye would strike it during the run even. So pretty versatile lures.I keep a few in my wading box at all times, never know when or where you'll need them. Theyre not too huge so they travel well.Id say theyre not a terrible value, could be cheaper but also could be a lot more expensive.

These are not fancy or expensive flies but they do look good in the water. If you like to fish leeches you will lose a lot of them and this is a good variety of colors for a very fair price. The hooks are decent and they have good action in the water. Not a premium product but for me flies get lost and torn up so premium flies are a waste of money.

These are really nice leech flies. The black ones have deep colors and the action in the water is very liflelike. The hooks are sharp and they look like they will hold up under multiple fish. I have a 6-weight rod (8 1/2' Fenwick Boron with Scientific Anglers line and reel combo perfect for fishing this fly.

These are good quality flies with a good range of colors. They are comparable to similar patterns that I have gotten from other fly shops. The hooks appear to be size 14.

The quality of these flies are pretty good. I caught a small brown with one which surprised me considering the size of these. The hook itself is small but the tail is long. They stay dry for awhile so get it nice and wet before you take that perfect cast to the drift. This looks much nicer when submerged and actually flicks like a leech would when jerked slightly. Great value for the money in my opinion. Very versatile and fun to use. I have only used them once and i got a bite so how could i complain?!?

As good as any fly shop, well tied and quality hooks.
